A WEST SUSSEX hot tub and lifestyle company has confirmed its place as one of the best retailers in Britain after pulling off a remarkable double in the latest UK awards run by the British and Irish Spa and Hot Tub Association. (BISHTA).

Euphoria Lifestyle, based in Washington, West Sussex, were the big winners in this year’s BISHTA  competition scooping top slots in both the category for Best Residential Portable Hot Tub over £5,000 and below £10,000 and in the section for Best Innovative Spa.

“This is very good news for everyone involved in the Euphoria Lifestyle and it is no more than the team deserves, not least for the enthusiasm, energy and commitment put in by everyone concerned” commented Mike Robinson, on behalf of the team that is based in Shoots Garden Centre on London Road in Washington.

“We like to think we don’t so much sell products but a complete new lifestyle giving people access to a quality of life they perhaps did not think was in their reach.”

Euphoria’s win in the Best Innovative Spa category was awarded for a hot tub that was installed on a third floor balcony, part of a complete house renovation project.  Prior to the installation of the hot tub, the balcony had to be structurally reinforced to take the additional weight.

A crane had to be used to lift the spa into place, an event that required partial closure of the road and a lot of attention so close to Hove seafront! Euphoria had to be sure its measurements were spot on to ensure that the spa would fit into its final position.

Euphoria was praised by BISHTA, the organisation that sets the standards for safe and professional selling of spas and hot tubs including training in vital hot tub water treatment.

Associated with family fun, relaxation in hot, bubbling hot water, the UK hot tub market has a serious side with £50 million in annual sales and another £17 million in add-on value through the sale of associated products such as chemicals and accessories.

The BISHTA awards were announced at a glittering awards evening held in Oxford on Friday September 18.

Euphoria hosted a launch party and networking evening for clients and partners to celebrate the launch of their new website and Euphoria Home Control home automation solutions.  Guests enjoyed an informal evening getting to meet the team, network with industry colleagues and learn more about the latest advancements in custom / home automation markets.  The event was held on Thursday 27th August at their Sussex showroom based at Shoots Garden Centre 

 

 

The forecast having been for a glorious day…all were nevertheless delighted the weather stayed dry, thus allowing guests the opportunity to enjoy the outdoor ambience offered by the garden centre!  The evening commenced at 1730 with drinks and light networking in and around the showroom

At 1800 it was over to the Shoots Cafe area where our compère Claire Love, Managing Director of Local Web Solutions kicked off the proceedings by welcoming guests and then introducing Mike Robinson who presented a short synopsis of Euphoria, their achievements to date, and future plans.

Chris Brown then presented an engaging insight on Home Technology “Everything you ever wanted to know about home automation but were afraid to ask!” 

 At 1900 it was back over to the outdoor living zone for supper – guests enjoyed grazing bowls provided by Dan Clarke, award winning Master Chef of Great Britain and his team from Red Anywhere.  A further delight to the evening was by way of an interactive “risotto master class” cooking demonstration.  Added to this culinary delight, local company Sussex Victuallers offering perfectly matched wines to compliment the vegetarian, meat and fish risottos served.

Prior to closing the evening at 2000, a magnum of champagne (Euphoria) and £30 of Shoots Gift Vouchers (Shoots) went to two lucky prize draw winners.

HOT TUBS ARE FATHER’S DAY DELIGHT!

Eight out of ten hot tub purchases in the UK are made by men, according to the industry’s trade association, the British and Irish Hot Tub Association (BISHTA), as part of a survey* to coincide with Father’s Day.

The BISHTA organisation says, for an increasingly number of families, the hot tub is replacing the dining table as the place where family’s gather for quality family time.

“The hot tub provides the ideal opportunity to get away from the phones, the computers and the televisions and just get back to good old fashioned talking,” says BISHTA chairman, Leo Reynolds.

“Busy modern households are increasingly scheduling a family soak – a group hot tub dip to enhance family bonding and to catch up on life.

“The added bonus is they are so good for de-stressing; easing aches and pains and helps promote good sleep.”

With an emphasis on specifications like seat configurations, pump power and jet positions, men are likening the hot tub purchasing experience to choosing the new family car, according the BISHTA sample survey.

“Generally, we find, men in a partnership will make the decision about larger,
higher value purchases,” says Mr Reynolds.

“Buying a hot tub involves a lot of research and comparison of specifications which seems to appeal to the male psyche,” he adds.

“Female partners will influence the information search but the final purchase decision is usually made by the male partner.”

Hot tub sales average around 7,000 annually with many of these UK households investing in landscaping the back garden area to make the most of their investment, to become a focal point for outdoor living and as a way of socialising with family and friends.

The survey also indicated that the hot tub is used nearly every day of the year in some households.  Described as perfect for soothing the aches and strains of the day, away from house distractions such as the television, teenage music and the telephone.

The message for men is clear; put down the mobile phone and don’t worry about e-mail.  Let the hot tub help you relax!

FATHER’S DAY: Father’s Day, originated in Spokane, Washington USA in 1910 – attributed to Mrs John Bruce-Dodd whom wanted a day to remember her father whose devotion to her and her siblings was unswerving after her mother died whilst giving birth to the sixth child of the family. Calvin Coolidge supported the Father’s Day idea during his US presidency in the early twenties and in1966, it was set in Statute in the US to fall on the third Sunday of June.

Not a great deal of information about how Fathers Day came to the UK, except that it has been imported from the USA and grew in popularity in the late Seventies.
